This is where the story begins

I had been dreaming of my own round-the-world project with a young crew even before the OGR 2023. I continued to reflect on the idea during the race and after it. Four months after finishing the Ocean Globe Race, I realized how much I missed being at sea and the challenge of preparing for a project of this magnitude. With all the lessons learned from the previous race, it seemed only fitting to take the next step. I decided that I needed to launch a campaign for the next OGR—otherwise, I knew I would regret it for the rest of my life!
Thus, Momentum – Future Onboard was born.

After making the decision, I immediately reached out to good friends from the past race who I thought might be interested in joining forces to make this happen. Almost right away, I also started consulting veterans from the old Whitbread races to understand how we should approach this project. Their help and knowledge have been truly invaluable.

We formed a project team and started brainstorming our mission, vision, values, and budget. Slowly, the wheels began turning, and I had the opportunity to be one of the keynote speakers at the Helsinki Classic Yacht Symposium. We also began discussions with potential partners and prepared for the official launch.

Now that the day has finally arrived, we are more than excited to share our mission with the world. But the work behind the scenes continues. There’s more to come – so get ready to send in your application this June when we start selecting the crew for Momentum.
